FAQs On Company Registration in Mainland China
Registering a business in China involves several key steps: first, choose your business structure (WFOE, JV, or RO). Then, register your company name with the local Administration for Market Regulation (AMR) and obtain necessary approvals based on your industry. Next, prepare required documents like Articles of Association and lease agreements. Submit these to the AMR to obtain your business license. Finally, complete post-registration tasks such as tax registration and opening a bank account.
The National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (NECIPS) is the official online resource for checking company registration status in China. You can use it to find information such as a company's business license, shareholders, and annual reports.
While a visa isn't required to begin the business registration process in China, if you intend to reside there, you'll need to apply for a suitable visa. Usually, this is either an "M" visa for trade and commercial activities or a "Z" visa for employment. After arriving in China, you can then apply for a work permit and a residence permit.
Foreigners have several avenues for starting a business in China. They can choose to establish a Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE), enter into a Joint Venture (JV) with a Chinese partner, or open a Representative Office (RO). It's important to understand the distinct legal requirements and restrictions associated with each option.
